Should I go with Vedic Astrology or Western Astrology ? - Your Questions Answered
This question has been there in minds of people from Western world. They sometimes get annoyed by seeing their planets in different signs when compared with their tropical placements.
As a Vedic Astrologer, the most faced question by me from Westerners is ‘My Sun sign differs in Vedic and I don’t resonate with that placement’. First, in Vedic, you cannot judge or have an interpretation based only on Sun sign.
The first weightage we give is for Ascendant, Planet in Ascendant and where the Ascendant ruler is placed, then the Moon sign. So, our way of interpretation differs.
In western too, I could see a lot of improvements in areas of Asteroids. But the confusion still persists. Like some use asteroids, some introduce placidus system, some go with whole sign. But, be it in any system, you must always have a strong hold of it to judge a horoscope. Even Vedic has its own flaws, like it is evolving with the current world.
But, the most positive aspects I love in Vedic is giving preference to surroundings and family members. Also, the Dasha system helps us to give a good outlook on what to expect during certain transits. In Western, the timing of events is based only on Transits. Whereas Vedic uses both transits and a Dasha system. When we combine both these, we can give accuracy to an extent. That’s where Vedic outdo the whole Western system. And you can hear from most of Western Astrologers that Vedic is most accurate in those areas. When you want timing of events along with precise accuracy of nature, I would always say go with Vedic Charts. Western Astrology as far as now is becoming more complicated in areas of using Asteroids which in turn gives less impact of planets. As an avid reader of Steven Forrest books from west, I always used to admire his works in making things simple and his presentation gives us how simple things can work for each and everyone. But, when I read charts, i used to take charts of spouse, children or father and mother along with the person’s chart. This gives us a clear understanding of to what extent the energies are working for them. Best Wishes Raghavendran Mariappan Triad Astrology
