When you ask your friend, What’s his Sign, they will immediately say their Sun sign if they are from the West, whereas if they are an Indian, they would say their Moon sign. But, Astrologers only know, more than these signs, the Ascendant sign is important. 

Most of the people here, who are Astrology enthusiasts have this question in their mind. ‘WHY I DON’T RESONATE WITH MY ASCENDANT?’ . I would like to explain this. Rising Sign/Ascendant generally moves for every 2 hours in a day. So, for 24 hours it covers 12 signs as Ascendants. 

What is an Ascendant? To explain it in an easy way, it is a Reference point which decides the overall characteristics of your chart. An Ascendant/Rising sign makes the chart complete and we need to calculate the houses through the Ascendant which is the first reference point. 

So, if your Ascendant falls on Sagittarius, and you have no planets in Sagittarius, you generally don’t show the trait of Sagittarius. A sign is incomplete without a planet. Only a Planet can activate the sign. So, check whether you have any planets over your Ascendant. The planet takes the characteristic of that particular sign which in turn will reflect in your nature. 

So, the planet is the most important to activate your Ascendant sign.  If you are a Pisces Ascendant/ Rising sign, your Pisces energy will be activated by the placement of any planet over Pisces. If Venus is placed in the sign of Pisces, you will exhibit the nature of Venus through Pisces. So, every time you are considering any Ascendant sign, follow the planets placed in it.

If there is no planet, you should take the sign in which your Ascendant ruler is placed. So, the planet would say which sign nature you will inherit. So, the Pisces Ascendant, if the Ascendant is empty and the planet ruling the Ascendant which is Jupiter if placed in Capricorn, will exhibit the Capricorn trait. You can see the nature of Pisces is water whereas, the planet sits in Earth sign, you tend to exhibit the Capricorn energy more than the watery energies.

Many will get confused on how to decide what sign is impacting you. The West gives preference to Sun sign, the Indian vedic to Moon sign and the others to Ascendant. I have listed out the preference on how to find the energies which you are resonating below.

So, the preference regarding Ascendant is explained below :
* More than Sun Sign, Moon sign is the important one
* More than the Moon sign, the sign in which the Ascendant ruler is placed is important.
* More than Ascendant ruler Sign, a trinal sign is important.
